Stairwell Safety Railing

Folding stairs are steep and narrow. Entering or exiting the attic from them without a handrail can be very dangerous if you misstep. Once you are in the attic, the unprotected ladder opening becomes a hazard. Solution: The Versa-Rail surrounds the opening and provides a handy grab rail for the ladder. Plus, it is easy to install with basic tools.

New is the Auto Shutter Door to secure the opening when the lift is down. Helps to prevent items, children and pets from falling thru. Most often used in living space installation.

Versa Lift Auto-Shutter

Automatic Safety Closure for the Lift Opening Model AS24 The Auto-Shutter is designed to provide a safety closure for the Versa Lift opening when the lifting platform moves down. This accessory is required whenever the Versa Lift is installed inside the living space of a home, or in a closet, or in an attic space accessible by a passage door from a living space, or on a deck, or any other area where children or pets might have ready access to the lift opening. The shutter door is lightweight tempered aluminum and is deployed by gravity as the lifting platform frame passes down through the opening. A horizontal support bar is provided to support the door in the raised position. See Fig. 1. Bracket mounted nylon rollers are provided that mount to the top of the lifting platform frame. These rollers lower the door gradually as the lifting frame descends and raise the door gradually as the lifting frame comes back up. See Fig. 2. When the lifting platform frame descends below the upper floor, the shutter door is resting on the front and back of the lift opening. Although the shutter door is not intended to be step surface, it will support up to 200 lbs. See Fig. 3. The AS24 Auto-Shutter accessory includes all parts and hardware needed for installation, along with illustrated detailed instructions.
