CAL-Lock
Sliding glass doors have always relied on wobbly pins,
ugly bars or a variety of clever but poorly-constructed
gadgets for security. While front doors were secured by
strong, solid steel deadbolts, sliders were left unsecured
despite the greater frequency of burglaries through sliding
glass doors than front doors. Now, CAL America, Inc. is
introducing a solid steel double-deadbolt for sliders called
the CAL Lock.
This is not a gadget or a gimmick. It is a serious piece
of hardware that was used during the summer Olympics in
Athens, Greece to secure the athletes in their dwellings
there. A consumer testing lab in Miami, Florida rated the
strength of the lock at 1,000 pounds after applying 1,000
pounds of force trying to force open the door. The lock
held.
There is also a child-safety feature to the lock. To
protect children from opening a sliding glass door, the CAL
Lock can be installed at any height on the frame of a
sliding glass door. It can be placed high out of the reach
of children or lowered for wheelchair accessibility.
Traditional sliding glass door locks have no choice for
location. If a door or frame have been damaged, the CAL Lock
can be moved or installed to avoid the damage.
The CAL Lock is fast and easy to install. The CAL Lock,
latch and handle take about 10 minutes to install. Simply
drill 6 or 7 holes, insert 6 or 7 screws and that's it!
And the best part is that the CAL Lock is easy to use:
"click - click" and it's opened or closed. To make the door
easier to open and close an attractive and ultra-strong
handle is available.

The lock comes with a ten-year warranty.
The CAL-Lock
The CAL Double-Bolt Lock works like a deadbolt for your
sliding glass doors. You probably have a deadbolt on your
front door because of the unsecured nature of normal
lock-handle combinations. However, burglaries rarely occur
through front doors because of the exposure to streets.
Burglars find it easier to enter through a less-exposed and
easier-to-enter sliding glass door. NOT ANY MORE!!! Your CAL
Double-Bolt Lock absolutely secures your sliding glass door
from being lifted or slid open.
It is made of solid steel, extruded aluminum and nylon.
The extruded aluminum forms the body and shape of the lock.
The two bolts are made from solid steel, the same steel as
you may have on your front-door deadbolt. These ultra-strong
metals are joined with nylon parts which help everything
move smoothly, last a long time, and look good.
THE DELUXE HANDLE
The DELUXE HANDLE makes your door much easier to operate.
The sleek design and extruded-aluminum material make the
handle attractive and extremely strong.

THE INSERT
The CAL Insert allows you to replace your original sliding
glass door lock with the absolute security of a CAL Lock.
The Insert completely fills the hole left when you remove
the original lock and provides a slot handle on the outside
of the door.
THE LONG LATCH
The Long Latch is for those double sliding glass doors which
come together "in the middle" like a French door. This Long
Latch, when paired with a CAL-Lock, allows the two doors to
be securely bolted together. From a distance it will look
like you have two locks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are CAL Locks easy to install?
A: Yes! EASY TO INSTALL. Simply drill 6 or 7 holes, insert 6
or 7 screws and that's it!
Q: Will the CAL Lock be able to prevent my sliders from
being lifted out of their tracks?
A: Yes! ABSOLUTE SECURITY. A metal piece on the lock slides
under the immovable latch to prevent ANY lifting.
Q: Will the CAL Lock prevent my doors from being slid
open?
A: Yes! Remember: ABSOLUTE SECURITY. Once the sliding glass
door is closed, two (2) steel bolts prevent the door from
moving at all!!
Q: Are CAL Locks made from strong (I mean REALLY STRONG)
metals?
A: Yes! CAL Locks are made mostly from caste aluminum and
steel. The nylon parts improve appearance and help parts
move smoothly and securely. The steel locks are very similar
to the locks on your front-door deadbolt but are smaller
and, of course, there are two of them. One bolt secures the
"latch" to the lock from the bottom and the other comes down
from the top.
Q: What is a "latch"?
A: The latch is the key to the whole system. It is attached
to the frame of the door opening. It secures directly to
your house with long screws which are provided. It then
becomes a part to your house and does not move. When the
lock is secured to the latch with steel bolts, your door
cannot be lifted or slid open.
Q: Are CAL Locks exposed to the outside like my current
lock?
A: No! There is no part of the CAL Lock accessible from the
outside, unlike your "old" lock. This prevents burglars from
studying the lock and learning where to drill to unlock your
door. Your current lock may as well have a sign on it that
reads, "Drill here to open!!"
Q: Any hints to make installation easier?
A: Yes. Before drilling holes, punch a small hole or
indentation in the slippery metal with an awl or nail. This
will prevent your drill bit from sliding during
installation. Also, keep your drill bit moistened with oil
to reduce wear.

Primary CAL Lock Insert
The CAL Primary Insert is designed to allow the
replacement of an original sliding glass door lock with a
new CAL Lock. The CAL Primary Insert completely fills the
hole left when an original lock is removed. The CAL Primary
Insert is installed from the outside and the new CAL Lock is
installed directly over the CAL Primary Insert on the inside
of the door.
After installation, there is sometimes a slight gap left
around the hole that can be seen only when the lock’s bolts
are open. So, each CAL Primary Insert includes a matching,
stick-on cover to hide any gaps.
The CAL Primary Insert looks much like a solid metal box
with attractive and easy to use nylon parts. The CAL Primary
Insert is outfitted with the standard slot handle on the
outside, making re-entrance as easy as ever.

Sliding Glass Double-Door Latch
Finding a solid, effective and attractive lock for those
sliding glass doors that come together "in the middle" has
been virtually impossible until now. Now, the CAL Long Latch
will finally give the security and convenience needed for
these troublesome doors.
The CAL Long Latch looks just like the attractive,
stylish and solid CAL Lock but a bit more narrow. It has a
CAL latch on it that absolutely secures the two doors
together. From a distance, it will appear that there are two
CAL Locks on the two doors. With the convenient flip of the
two solid steel bolts on the CAL Lock, the two sliding glass
doors will be free to slide open. But when those two solid
steel bolts are slid into the new CAL Long Latch the doors
cannot be separated.

Double-Bolt Lock
The "CAL Double-Bolt Lock" is not a gadget or gimmick but
a serious piece of hardware; serious enough to be used at
the Olympic Village in Athens Greece for the 2004 summer
Olympics. Other after-market locks are untested, weaker,
more difficult to operate, less conveniently located on the
door and just plain ugly.
The CAL Lock was tested at a Miami, Florida consumer
testing laboratory and was rated at 1,000 pounds. The
laboratory applied 1,000 pounds of pressure to the installed
lock and it held. Think about it: No burglar can bench press
1,000 pounds!! With its extruded aluminum body and two solid
steel bolts, the CAL Lock is the strongest lock on the
market. And the "CAL Double-Bolt Lock's" unique design makes
it nearly impossible to lift a door out of the tracks.
The moving parts of the CAL Lock are facilitated by nylon
enhancements. These provide years of smooth and simple
operation. The two steel bolts slide up and down smoothly
and easily, so it's also the easiest-to-operate lock around.
With its flexible mounting options, the "CAL Double-Bolt
Lock" can be installed anywhere along the door opening to
maximize security, safety and convenience. Placing the "CAL
Double-Bolt Lock" high up the door makes it difficult for
children to reach. Installing the "CAL Double-Bolt Lock"
lower on the door makes it convenient for those in
wheelchairs. So, there are multiple installation options;
anywhere along your door frame.
Most of our competitors' sliding glass door locking
systems have the appearance of an after-thought to the
actual design of the door. The "CAL Double-Bolt Lock" is
elegant, durable, and permanent. Its European look comes
from its European designer. Once installed, the lock's
break-through design makes a sliding glass door virtually
BURGLAR-PROOF.
